I went to bed feeling fine last night and woke up this morning and knew the instant that my eyes opened that I was getting sick. I’m hoping this doesn’t take a turn for the worse because I’m going to need every ounce of energy possible to make it through this week and the next.
I swear by this weird tea concoction when I first feel a cold coming on and it usually works. Whether it’s a placebo effect or there’s actually something to it—well, I don’t really care so long as it nips this thing in the bud.
About a 1/2 tsp of grated or ground ginger
2-3 tbsp of lemon juice
Dash of cayenne pepper (or more than a dash, depending on how sensitive you are to heat)
If you like honey, you can add about 1 tbsp of that as well
Bag of green, ginger, peppermint or Detox tea—or whatever tea you like
I put this all in a mug and just run hot water into it from my Keurig. I know I’m breaking about 30 rules of tea making, but it’s fast and convenient…and actually seems to help! If I’m in a hurry, I’ll just put as much lemon as I can stand in ice or hot water and drink that.
Here’s to feeling better! Cheers.
