First taste of fall!

Well, it was a tiny bit cooler today than usual so—I went for it. Leggings. I haven’t had pants on my legs in three months and it felt nice to wear something more covered up without sweating like crazy. Let’s put it this way: I will NOT look back upon this summer’s fashion constraints with a smile on my face. There are only so many light, loose dresses one can cycle through.

I love the look of completely monochromatic legs with a bit of fun up top. Uh oh, I’m gonna have to start dragging out finding all my tights too! (Am I the only person that loses her tights and leggings over the summer?)

Marshalls Loot!

Passport Romper, Marshalls, $7; Vintage Oscar de la Renta scarf, my grandmothers; Bitten by SJP wedges

The fingertip test.

So, did you ever have that rule at school that your skirt had to be long enough that your fingertips would not touch skin with your hands by your sides? I was a little worried that this little dress would be too short, but it passed the fingertip test! Parfait.

I’ve been itching to get my hands on a chambray skirt (guess I shouldn’t have gotten rid of all of them a few years ago), but this dress will do. I’ll probably layer it up with a belted shirt over the skirt, but I haven’t gotten around to that yet. Plus, it’s been a wee bit too hot for much layering. We’re not even in the throes of summer yet and here I am pining away for autumn. The grass is always greener!

Dress (brand unknown) from Ross ($8.99); Old Navy gladiator sandals
Have you worn chambray yet? How do you wear it?
Still in stripes.

I blogged this weekend about how I seem to gravitate toward certain colors/patterns in clothing and this outfit is the epitome of that gravitation. Navy, check. White, check. Khaki, check. Stripes, check. Some people have a uniform—this is about as close as I get to one.

And get this? Everything I’m wearing, with the exception of the necklace, shoes and handbag was bought this weekend for under $20 total. You read that correctly! Don’t come shopping with me unless you’re ready to bargain hunt!

Old Navy tank, chinos and cardigan; Namaste bag; Aerosoles wedges; H&M necklace

I took along the cardigan even though it was blistering hot because of overactive A/C in the office. It was actually light enough that I could wear it outside without too much discomfort.
Until later! Happy striping!
Summer, is that you?

Yesterday DC was in full-on swamp mode. It was hot, sticky and disgusting outside so I wanted to wear the lightest thing I owned. Voila! This dress is light as air, and although I had to wear a cardigan over it in the office to tone down the amount of skin I was showing, I didn’t full uncomfortable or overheated once.

One note about wearing dresses like this: avoid windy days or Metro wind tunnels. To be on the safe side yesterday, I wore a little pair of booty shorts (for lack of a better word) underneath to avoid flashing folks coming up the Metro escalator.

H&M red & white striped dress; Forever 21 belt; Target charcoal cardigan; Payless wedges
A cold day in May.

Yesterday was unseasonably cold in the DC area, so I had the chance to draw out my favorite sweater yet again! Oh sweet faux fur, how I have missed you!

Not only is this my favorite sweater, but I’m also wearing here one of my favorite tees, pairs of pants and boots. These boots are so amazing and it hurts my heart that I will have to get them resoled soon because they are falling apart. I wore them nearly every day (or at least every other day) this winter, and I can’t let them go!

H&M faux fur cardigan; Target pocket tee; H&M motorcycle skinnies; Target boots
