My favorite costume in Alice in Wonderland was Alice’s armor worn when she fights the Jabberwocky. Up until then it was lots of blue dresses (to be expected), but the curly hair plus fitted armor in this scene was a huge costuming win. I saw the movie for the first time this weekend (I’m so behind, I know) and really liked it. Most of the people I’ve spoken to about it didn’t have much good to say, but I enjoyed it. I think it would have been more interesting to do the original story reworked, then have done this movie as a sequel. The backstories and flashbacks were more interesting than what was happening in this movie’s “present-day.” Between this, Mad Men and The September Issue (all watched within the past several days), my mind is going crazy with fashion ideas and inspiration.

Both dresses retain elements of Zooey’s vintage dress (the neckline on the left one, the color of the right one), but if I had to choose—I’d say the Donna Morgan has more of the overall feel of the dress from the film.

I’m watching Julie & Julia now and although the movie is not yet done, I can already tell it’s turning into one of those rarities in which the film is much more enjoyable than the book it is based on. But, could they do the same with the sequel? Doubtful!

One of My Favorite Christmas Movies (That You’ve Never Heard Of) One Special Night was a TV movie made for CBS with Julie Andrews (love!) and James Garner (also love!). It’s a little cheesy, but it’s so heart-warming and Christmasy and is a really lovely story. It’ll become one of your new favorites, I promise! P.S. I feel so old. I feel like I JUST watched this on CBS and apparently it aired in 1999. Eek!
