I got the following email:
I love reading your blog and knew you’d be the right person to ask! I’m trying to find something that can be worn over dresses/maxis/short and tanks while I’m on my honeymoon in Hawaii and still fit in at the resort. I need something I can throw over a dress & still look nice enough to eat at the restaurants, not freeze, and feel slug-tactic. I was thinking moto jacket or hooded cardigan, but I’m not finding anything other than faux-leather and am not sure I can pull off that look. Any ideas?
I agree with you that a moto jacket will be your most versatile option. They look great with maxi dresses, shorts and tanks and you can wear it when you get home too.
The perfect moto jacket option is from ZARA ($119). It’s faux leather but doesn’t look it. A lighter (more resort-looking) option is this Vero Moda biker jacket from ASOS ($62). I’m also a huge fan of this Hive & Honey jacket ($159). The camel color looks so rich.
I think a drapey jacket would look great too. I love this Blank ponte jacket ($98). BB Dakota makes a pretty one ($88). River Island’s waterfall front jacket ($106) looks good worn closed or open. If you’re looking for something more unique, Free People’s twill jacket ($148) is fun.
One last idea: I love Sabine’s asymmetrical cardigan in sand ($98). Such a good light layer and VERY slug.
